Description:
"Get the training you need for the job you want" is the motto of the 49er Regional Occupational Program (49er ROP). 49er ROP is a public education program offering career preparation classes to over 1,800 local high school students and adults each year. Sponsored by the California Department of Education through the Placer County Office of Education in association with the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools, 49er ROP is part of a statewide program designed to bring education and business together, working toward the common goal of educating Californians for today's workforce.
The adults who attend are often re-entering today's job market, seeking new skills for a new career or upgrading the skills required in their existing occupation. For high school students, ROP courses can help them in meeting high school graduation requirements and at the same time offer them community college credit. An ROP class can provide all students the opportunity to research a career, learn valuable job skills and, in some classes, participate in an internship.
Part of 49er ROP's success has come from the support of over 600 local businesses throughout Nevada and Placer counties. Many local businesses are assisting 49er ROP by offering on-site internships. This on-the-job training experience is invaluable for students. Experiencing business and industrial workplaces helps students to better understand the world of work. In order to make it in the workplace, it is necessary to have current job skills. 49er ROP provides students with both the training and the experience required in today's changing job market.
49er ROP classes are free to high school students and cost as little as $175 per semester for adults. To find out more how 49er ROP can help you, take a tour of this website. Physical Address:
